Non-profit
Public

Ahttp://ckut.ca/

CKUT is an example of a non profit radio show as it is a radio show produced by a university and targeted specifically at the students at that university.

A non profit radio programme means the radio show does not gain any profit from the radio show so everything is 'voluntarily'

Presenters
Thepresenters on this radio show are exising students of the university. This is die to it being a casual radio to with a peer to peer mode of address as the presenters are the same as the listnenrs. Including someone else instead of the students at this University would immediately be unsuitable and in relatable for its listeners.

Funding

As this is a non profit radio show the show is funded but the university. This means that there is no need for advertisements, sponsors, promotions for funding as it is not a commercial radio show. The presenters are most likely volunteers and students at the school meaning no money is needed to pay them and if so very little.

The radio show is accessed and distributed online as part of the universities web pages. The radio show is also an online radio show.

Here is another example of a non-profit radio show
http://wchqfm.com/index.html

The radio show is a music radio show distributed and accessed online being an online radio show. Also, catering towards it intended target audience. Th music radio show is distributed online as it is a non profit radio show and probably would not have the funds to book a radio slot.

BBC Radio 1

BBC Radio 1 is a subsidiary radio show owned by the conglomerate company BBC. The BBC is a public service company including Radio, Television and Film.radio BBC radio 1 is specialises in broadcasting I music such as trending/charts , while it s after 7pm music choice/ genre varies from a selection such as hip-hop, dance ,electronic etc. BBC radio 1 includes advertisement which relates to its young audience. The advertisements/sponsors contribute to the profit made by the radio show. As the listeners are majority female and young the advertisements, specifically caters this audience.

As the target audience for BBC radio 1 is young featuring a young presenter would be more reasonable however, not to young as they sort of play/ fit a 'role model 'figure to a young people.

The radio show is also accessible online , this is great for its target audience as they are majority digital native and the radio being easily accessed online and on bbc radio apps making it much easier and suited towards BBC radio 1's intended target audience. The content the radio show features is also catered towards this age group through the occasional celeb chitchat/ interview news trends etc. These are features which will appeal and entertain this target audience.

BBC Radio 1 is very different to other BBC radio stations as it caters to a much larger/ mass audience as it features music, new, topics etc. While other BBC radio stations have a much more niche audience as well as content such as BBC Radio 4 where drama and news is included. It is also targeted at a much older audience.

Looking at BBC Radio 1's listenership figures it is clear it is a popular radio show as it gains
9,467,000  listeners a week.
